The events of September 11, 2001 (9/11) changed our landscape forever. Emergency preparedness has become our catch phrase for the new millennium. Having a plan for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive based emergencies has become a mandatory component of emergency planning. This 8 hour course will certify your staff and enable them to adopt the mandatory roles and responsibilities necessary for a successful emergency response.

Course Content:
- Legislation – Review of applicable legislation
- Emergency incident management systems – Organizational structure for roles and responsibilities
- Communications – Establishing effective communication during emergencies
- Chemical emergencies – Identification of emergency situations and required actions
- Biological emergencies – Identification of nerve and blister agents. Signs and symptoms. Required actions
- Radiological and nuclear events – Definition of radiation (alpha, beta, gamma and neutron). Level of impact and response to a radiation based events
- Explosives – Identification of risks due to explosive based emergencies. Identification of common explosives used by terrorists and required response
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) – Review levels of required protection for staff during emergencies. Review levels of respiratory protection available and limitation. Review level of chemical protective clothing (gloves, boots and suits)
- Monitoring devices – Basic review of monitoring devices to assist us during an emergency event
- Decontamination – Review of methods to decontaminate victims and employees who have been exposed with or without PPE
- Practical scenario and tabletops
