Infection Control Awareness (Blood Borne Pathogen Awareness)

Many staff in a facility may be required to work alongside a process or area in the workplace where exposure to an infectious substance may be a reality.  The employer is legally bound to train the employee(s) who may be injured by any biological, physical, or chemical hazard in the workplace. We must provide those workers with precautions and procedures, protective equipment, and emergency measures to follow in the event of an emergency. This course will address the numerous infectious issues in the workplace along with protective measures the employee(s) can take to prevent exposure.

Topics to include:

  • Legislation – know the rules!
  • Overview of an infectious substance
  • Blood Borne Pathogens overview
  • Reporting a known or suspected exposure to the supervisor – Facility Procedures reviewed
  • Protective measures to follow
  • Workplace prevention techniques
  • Assessing the potential for exposure in the workplace

Course Length:  2-4 hours.
