CONFINED SPACE ENTRY/RESCUE CERTIFICATION TRAINING

AT HOT ZONE TRAINING, OUR GOAL IS TO DESIGN A CONFINED SPACE PROGRAM MEETING YOUR EXPECTATIONS, OR GOALS. WHETHER YOU DESIRE TO BE TRAINED TO THE AWARENESS LEVEL, ONLY, OR HAVE A NEED TO MOVE INTO RESCUE TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION, HOT ZONE WILL BE YOUR PARTNER ALONG THE PATH OF YOUR CHOOSING.  ALL COURSES WILL BE DESIGNED TO COMPLY WITH NFPA, CSA AND THE ACT. CHALLENGE HOT ZONE TRAINING CONSULTANTS TO DESIGN A COURSE FOR YOU.

Topics to include but not limited to:

  • DEFINITIONS AND TERMS
  • CHARACTERISTICS OF A CONFINED SPACE – THE ART OF ASSESSING HAZARDS IN AND AROUND A CONFINED SPACE – THE OBJECTIVE IN THIS TRAINING SEGMENT WILL BE TO FAMILIARIZE ATTENDEES WITH CONFINED SPACE HAZARDS AND EQUIP THEM WITH HAZARD ASSESSMENT SKILLS
  • DUTIES OF THE ENTRY SUPERVISOR, ENTRY ATTENDANT AND THE ENTRANT (S) – THIS SEGMENT WILL CONCENTRATE ON THE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF EACH TEAM MEBER RESPONSIBLE FOR A SUCCESSFUL ENTRY – EMPLOYER PROCEDURES WILL BE STRONGLY EMPHASIZED AND REVIEWED IN THIS SEGMENT – REFERENCE TO THE INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WILL UTILIZED.
  • COMMUNICATION IS VITAL – THIS SEGMENT WILL DEAL WITH THE IMPORTANCE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS
  • WITHIN AND AROUND THE SPACE – SPACE SPECIFIC COMMUNICATION DIFFICULTIES WILL BE ADDRESSED – ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL BE FACED WITH A REALISTIC (FUN) COMMUNICATION EXERCISE WITH COMMUNICATION DIFFICULTIES TO BE OVERCOME.
  • ENTRY PERMITS/HOT WORK PERMITS – DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT THEM – THIS SEGMENT WILL REVIEW THE SIGNIFIGANCE OF ENTRY/HOT WORK PERMITS AND HOW TO FILL ONE OUT. EMPLOYER PERMITS WILL BE INTEGRATED INTO THIS SEGMENT - ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL FILL A PERMIT OUT FULLY AND UNDERSTAND THE HAZARD ASSESSMENT/CONTROL FUNCTION OF THESE PERMITS.
  • AIR MONITORS – THE VITAL LINK!! – EMPLOYER AIR MONITORS WILL BE SOURCED INTO THE TRAINING ROOM FOR A VERY PRACTICAL SEGMENT – A FULL DESCRIPTION OF INTERNAL SENSORS, SENSOR OPERATION, ALARMS SETS, FRESH AIR SETUP, CALIBRATION IMPORTANCE, CROSS SENSITIVITY OF SENSORS, SETTING UP THE MONITOR FOR ENTRY (ATTACHMENTS) ALONG WITH A LIVE CHEMICAL TABLETOP WHICH WILL DEMONSTRATE THE CORRELATION BETWEEN SENSOR ALARMS AND TOXICOLOGY/FLAMMABILITY – THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PRE ENTRY AND CONTINUOUS AIR MONITORING WILL BE ADDRESSED ALONG WITH A REINFORCEMENT ON WHY RECORDING ENTRY RESULTS IS VITAL!    
  • INFORMATION RESOURCES – WHERE DO I GO FOR HELP? – THE EMPLOYER CONFINED SPACE ENTRY PLAN/PROCEDURES
  • RESPIRATORY PROTECTION – THE NEXT BREATH MAY BE YOUR LAST! – WHEN/WHY IS IT TIME TO UTILIZE RESPIRATORY PROTECTION? – THIS SEGMENT WILL ADDRESS THE MANY TYPES OF RESPIRATORY PROTECTION (APR, SCBA, AIR LINE RESPIRATORS) WHILE HIGHLIGTING FUNCTION, LIMITATIONS (APF) AND STORAGE, CARE AMD USE. – EMPLOYER RESPIRATORS SHOULD EB AVAILABLE FOR THIS SEGMENT
  • CHEMICAL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING – BREATHING IS NOT YOUR ONLY CONCERN! – AN OVERVIEW OF THE MANY TYPES OF PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AVAILABLE AND WHEN THIS WOULD BE A NECESSARY ENTRY CONTROL
  • A DISCUSION TO REINFORCE THE IMPORTANCE OF FILLING OUT AN ENTRY PERMIT TO PROPERLY ASSESS THESE VERY NEEDS
  • SETTING UP FOR THE ENTRY – THIS SEGMENT WILL BE VERY PRACTICAL AND COVER THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
  1. MECHANICAL RETRIEVAL EQUIPMENT – THE ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE NON-ENTRY RESCUE AND FALL ARREST CONTROL
  2. VENTILATION EQUIPMENT – THE ART OF POSITIVE PRESSURE AND NEGATIVE PRESSURE VENTILATION – WHEN WOULD I USE ONE METHOD VERSUS ANOTHER – PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION ON SETUP AND USE
  3. FALL ARREST HARNESS AND LANYARDS – DONNING AND DOFFING, INSPECTIONS, CLEANING AND STORAGE, LOGGING THE INSPECTION
  4. BARRIERS (VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN) – PRACTICAL REINFORCEMENT ON THE IMPORTANCE OF SETTING UP ENTRY BARRIERS TO NON ESSENTIAL INDIVIDUALS/VEHICLES
  5. LOTO – THIS SEGMENT WILL ADDRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPERLY ASSESSING AND CONTROLLING THE MULTIPLE ENERGY SOURCES POTENTIALLY PRESENT IN OR AROUND A SPACE – ALL ASPECTS OF ENERGY ISOLATION/LOCK OUT WILL BE COVERED USING A BRADY UNIVERSAL LOTO KIT (MAIN SWITCHES, BALL VALVES, GATE VAVLVES, CIRCUIT BREAKERS, O AND Y VALVES, ETC)  
  6. CONFINED SPACE RESCUE TEAMS – THIS SEGMENT WILL ADDRESS THE QUESTION AS TO WHEN A CONFINED SPACE RESCUE TEAM NEEDS TO BE PRESENT FOR AN ENTRY TO OCCUR. – THE EQUIPMENT, TRAINING AND LOGISTICS OF PERFORMING AND ENTRY RESCUE WILL BE ADDRESSED
  • ANY ADDITONAL EMPLOYER SPECIFIC TOPICS OR COURSE CONTENT REQUESTED – ALL COURSES WILL BE DESIGNED SPECIFIC TO EACH EMPLOYERS SPACE SPECIFIC HAZARDS AND PROGRAM.
  • HANDS – ON SCENARIOS

2-DAY FORMAT (16 HOUR):

16-HOUR SESSION (OPERATIONS). MINIMUM OF 10 PARTICIPANTS PER SESSION. THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR ENTRANTS AND RESCUE STAFF USING A MECHANICAL RECTRIEVAL SYSTEM. IF ENTRANTS MUST DISENGAGE FROM THE NON-ENTRY RESCUE EQUIPMENT (TRIPODS, ETC), YOUR ORGANZIATION WILL NEED TO PROGRESS TO THE 3-4 DAY RESCUE TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION.

4 DAY RESCUE TECHNICIAN

COURSE DURATION - 32 HOURS MININMUM (4 DAYS)

INCLUDES:    PARTICIPANT MANUALS, WALLET CARDS, CERTIFICATES, HANDOUTS, THEORY, PRACTICAL TRAINING, TESTS/EXAM

THIS CERTIFICATION COURSE WILL ALLOW YOUR ERT TO PERFORM A FULL ENTRY RESCUE WITH ADVANCED PATIENT PACKAGING TECHNIQUES. YOUR ENTRY/RESCUE EQUIPMENT WILL BE THE FOCUS OF THIS ADVANCED COURSE WITH EXTENSIVE HANDS-ON FOR EVERY ATTENDEE.

MINIMUM PRE REQUISITES:

CONFINED SPACE AWARNESS CERTIFICATION, CPR FIRST AID CERTIFICATION, RESPIRATORY FIT TESTING RECORDS, WHMIS
MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE RECORDS CONSISTENT WITH CSA Z 94.4-11 WILL BE A
